Faculty Update - March 2024

A $5 million donation went to Dr. Dan Ding to establish the Smart Tech for Paralysis (ST4P) Implementation Hub that will form a partnership between RST/ PM&R/UPMC and will be starting to ramp up activities on the SCI inpatient unit and the Center for Assistive Technology.

Marco Capogrosso, Elvira Pirondini and Lee Fisher's stroke study “Epidural Stimulation of the Cervical Spinal Cord for Post-Stroke Upper-Limb Paresis” was selected among the Top 20 medical achievements of the country in 2023 by the Clinical Research Forum organization. 

Rob Gaunt and Jen Collinger were interviewed by NBC News about an implant completed by Elon Musk’s company Neuralink implanted a person a week or so ago. 

Sarah Laughlin was nominated and accepted as member of the National PKU Alliance (NPKUA) Research Registry Committee

Tad Gorske and Melissa Sutcliffe served on a panel for an event sponsored by The Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association on March 9th at Carlow University.
