Dr. Munin is the Vice Chair for Strategic Planning and Program Development for PM&R and holds secondary appointments in the Departments of Rehabilitation Science and Technology and Otolaryngology. In addition, he directs both the spasticity and prosthetic rehabilitation clinics at UPMC Presbyterian.
Dr. Munin has several areas of active clinical research. He has been active in clinical trials that evaluate botulinum toxin medications for upper and lower limb spasticity. He has performed studies investigating the use of diagnostic ultrasound for spastic muscle identification. Dr. Munin has collaborated with the Department of Otolaryngology using laryngeal EMG techniques to predict recovery and guide treatment after recurrent laryngeal neuropathies. Dr. Munin has also investigated causes of pain after lower limb amputation caused by abnormal bone formation (heterotopic ossification).
