Caroline Vail DO

Caroline Vail DO is a Spinal Cord Injury Medicine physician and is certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In her outpatient clinic she sees patients with traumatic and nontraumatic spinal cord injuries/disorders and/or spasticity. She received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab / Northwestern University (formerly RIC), followed by her fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at UPMC. 

Board Certifications: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Clinical Interests: include medical education, chemodenervation (neurotoxin) procedures, baclofen pump management, and adaptive sports. She is also particularly interested in the intersection of women’s health and disability rights advocacy. She has presented on neurological rehabilitation topics at institutional, local, national, and international levels and is a member of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (ASCIP) .
