Why did you choose UPMC residency program?
I'm interested in PM&R because I really enjoy the focus that we have on restoring function and quality of life to patients. We are also fortunate to be the ones to send patients home which is a great feeling when they have been in the hospital for a prolonged time. I also like the interdisciplinary nature inherent to PM&R. Plus the combination of MSK and neuro in unique and awesome.
I chose UPMC becuase it excels in all areas of PM&R with unparalleled inpatient and outpatient opportunities. As I'm very interested in research during residency, I believe UPMC offers funding and guidance that no other program can match. It has a PGY-1 year well suited to training residents for managing a PM&R service. All the residents I met during my interview were very happy and seemed to have good camaraderie which was important to me.
