Why did you choose UPMC residency program?
I was introduced to the field of PM&R while playing Division 1 women’s basketball, and I realized physiatry is the perfect career for me. I am drawn to PM&R because I am passionate about working in a team to help people persevere through adversity—mentally, emotionally, physically, and functionally—and guiding them through the recovery process so they can have a better quality of life and become the best person they can be.
I chose UPMC because it is such a strong program all around. I am particularly interested in brain injury, and I am confident there is no better place to train than UPMC PM&R, where I will learn how to treat the full spectrum of brain injury from disorders of consciousness to concussions. I did an away rotation at UPMC and felt right at home.
