Why did you choose UPMC residency program?
I was initially attracted to PM&R because of the very practical nature of the specialty, that in many cases you are working on building functionality and increasing people's quality of life, simply helping them to get back to doing the things that they most love to do. Additionally, PM&R offers versatility not only in patients from all spheres of life and age ranges, but also in practice, in the types of things you can provide for your patients and this made the field very attractive to me. After rotating through UPMC as a medical student, I was impressed by the excellent teaching faculty, focus on high quality patient care, and research to advance the field. UPMC has all that anyone could want in a PM&R training program. Pittsburgh is also a fun, affordable city that is great for young families, food lovers, and has access to many outdoors experiences.
