Why did you choose UPMC residency program?
PM&R initially attracted me due to its predominant focus on conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and neurological systems, which happen to be the organ systems of most interest to me. I later gravitated toward the overall focus of function and quality of life and the empowerment I sensed from patients during my medical school PM&R rotations as they made functional gains over time. UPMC specifically attracted me as I wanted a solid, comprehensive PM&R exposure during residency and plentiful opportunities for research. Moreover, I have a particular interest on the interface between PM&R and rehabilitation engineering and feel as if no other program in the country would be more suitable for exploring this interest.
