Wendy Helkowski, MD
Associate Professor

Wendy Helkowski, MD, associate professor and vice chair of medical education, was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. She was appointed Residency Program Director in 2002. Dr. Helkowski is actively involved in graduate medical education at local and national levels.

She is Associate Designated Institutional Official for UPMC Medical Education. She has participated in several committees in the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine including the Examination Committee where she contributed to the development of the certification test and conducted oral examinations. She was an oral board examiner and was a written item writer for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She also participated in the ACGME Milestones Working Group where the milestones for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation were developed. She is a current member of the ACGME Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Review Committee.

Dr. Helkowski’s clinical practice focuses on electromyography and outpatient musculoskeletal medicine and disability.
