Biography
Dr. Tad Gorske is a licensed psychologist and the Director of Outpatient Neuropsychology in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. at West Virginia University in Counseling Psychology. He completed his internship in the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Morgantown, West Virginia. He completed a joint Post Doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology and Addiction Medicine at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA.

He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology where he teaches course in counseling and addiction. He has also taught courses in experimental design and neuroscience. Dr. Gorske has lectured both nationally and internationally on topics related to neuropsychology, Motivational Interviewing, and counseling methods. He has been an invited speaker to national and international organizations such as the Australian Psychological Society, Uppsala and Stockholm Universities in Sweden, The American Psychological Association, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.

Dr. Gorske’s clinical interests include traumatic and acquired brain injuries. He also has experience and expertise in geriatric assessment, psychiatric disorders, and other neurological diseases. His research interests include neuropsychology, counseling methods, psychiatric and neurological diseases

Research Activities
Dr. Gorske has been an investigator and co-investigator on NIH funded research projects including his own career development award, “Effects of Cognitive Test Feedback on Patient Adherence (DA017273-01A1).” This work led to the publication of Collaborative Therapeutic Neuropsychological Assessment, of which Dr. Gorske is first author. He has published in chapters and peer reviewed journals on topics related to neuropsychology, mental health, addiction, and Motivational Interviewing.
